Payson, Arizona is a small town located in the heart of the Tonto National Forest in Gila County. It is situated at an elevation of 5,000 feet and is surrounded by the Mogollon Rim and the Mazatzal Mountains. The town has a population of about 15,000 people and is known for its outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
The climate in Payson is mild with temperatures ranging from 30-90 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. Summers are hot and dry while winters are cold but not too cold. The area receives an average of 18 inches of rain per year.
Payson has a rich history that dates back to the late 1800s when it was first settled by ranchers and miners. Today, it is home to many businesses including restaurants, shops, galleries, museums, and more. There are also several parks in the area including Green Valley Park which features a lake for fishing and swimming as well as picnic areas and playgrounds.
