Cave Creek, Arizona is a small town located in the northern part of Maricopa County, about 30 miles north of Phoenix. It is nestled in the foothills of the Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the Tonto National Forest. The town has a population of just over 5,000 people and is known for its western charm and small-town atmosphere.
The town was founded in 1879 by prospectors who were looking for gold and silver. Although they never found any, they did discover an abundance of copper ore which was mined until the early 1900s. Today, Cave Creek is home to many artists, writers, musicians, and other creative types who are drawn to its unique desert landscape and laid-back lifestyle.
The town has a variety of attractions including several art galleries, restaurants, shops, and outdoor activities such as hiking trails and horseback riding. There are also several annual events such as the Cave Creek Cowboy Poetry Gathering which celebrates the area’s rich cowboy heritage.
Cave Creek is also home to several parks including Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area which offers visitors a chance to explore over 2,000 acres of pristine desert land with trails for hiking or horseback riding.
