Apache Junction is a city located in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is situated at the junction of the Superstition Mountains and the Salt River. The city is known for its proximity to the Superstition Mountains, which are home to many legends and stories of lost gold mines. Apache Junction is also known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, camping, fishing, and horseback riding. The city has a population of approximately 40,000 people and covers an area of about 33 square miles.
The climate in Apache Junction is generally warm and dry with temperatures ranging from the mid-80s in summer to the mid-50s in winter. The area receives an average of 8 inches of rain per year.
The economy of Apache Junction is largely based on tourism and retirement living.
