Odenville, Alabama Description
Odenville, Alabama is a small town located in St. Clair County, about 30 miles northeast of Birmingham. It is situated on the banks of the Coosa River and is home to approximately 2,000 people. The town was founded in 1883 and named after William Oden, who owned the land at the time.
The town has a rich history and is known for its historic buildings and landmarks. The Odenville Historic District includes several homes built in the late 19th century as well as a few churches, including the First Baptist Church of Odenville which was built in 1887. Other notable landmarks include the Odenville Depot, which was built in 1895 and served as a stop on the Louisville & Nashville Railroad line until it closed in 1971; and the Odenville Opera House, which was built in 1901 and hosted many performances over its lifetime before closing in 1957.
Today, Odenville is a quiet rural community with a strong sense of community pride. The town has several parks and recreational areas including Oden Park, which features walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and an outdoor amphitheater; as well as several golf courses nearby. There are also several restaurants and shops located throughout town that offer local cuisine and goods.
Odenville is also home to several annual events such as the Odenville Arts Festival held each spring; the Fourth of July celebration; and Christmas on Main Street held each December. These events bring together residents from all over St. Clair County to celebrate their community spirit while enjoying music, food, art displays, parades, fireworks displays, carnival rides and more!
