McCalla, Alabama Description
McCalla is a small town located in Jefferson County, Alabama. It is situated just south of Birmingham and is part of the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of McCalla was estimated to be around 8,000 in 2020.
McCalla is a rural community with a strong sense of community and family values. The town has several parks and recreational areas, including Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, which features an old ironworks factory and museum. There are also several churches in the area, including First Baptist Church of McCalla and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
The town has several schools, including McAdory Elementary School, McAdory Middle School, McAdory High School, and the University of Montevallo at McCalla. There are also several private schools in the area as well as a branch campus of Jefferson State Community College.
McCalla has a variety of shopping options available to its residents including grocery stores, pharmacies, clothing stores, restaurants, banks, gas stations and more. The town also has several medical facilities such as Brookwood Medical Center and UAB Hospital-Highlands.
McCalla is home to many festivals throughout the year such as the annual McCalla Day Festival which celebrates the town's history with music and food vendors from all over Alabama. The town also hosts an annual Christmas parade each December that features floats from local businesses and organizations as well as Santa Claus himself!
Overall McCalla is a great place to live with plenty of activities for all ages!
