Hazel Green, Alabama Description
Hazel Green, AL is a small town located in Madison County, Alabama. It is situated just north of Huntsville and is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. The population of Hazel Green was estimated to be 4,719 in 2019.
The town was founded in 1820 and named after the hazelnut trees that grew in abundance in the area. It has since grown into a thriving community with a variety of businesses, restaurants, and attractions. The town is home to several parks, including Hazel Green Park and Veterans Memorial Park. There are also several churches located within the city limits.
Hazel Green is known for its excellent schools and educational opportunities. The city is served by the Madison County School System which includes Hazel Green High School, Sparkman Middle School, and Hazel Green Elementary School. The city also has several private schools such as St. John's Catholic School and Madison Academy.
The town has a vibrant economy with many businesses ranging from retail stores to manufacturing plants. Some of the major employers include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama (TMMAL). In addition to these large companies, there are numerous small businesses that contribute to the local economy as well.
Hazel Green offers residents plenty of recreational activities such as golfing at Pine Tree Country Club or fishing at Flint River Park. There are also several festivals throughout the year such as the annual Watermelon Festival held each summer at Veterans Memorial Park or the Christmas Parade held each December on Main Street.
