Clanton, AL is a small city located in Chilton County, Alabama. It is situated in the heart of the state, about 50 miles south of Birmingham and 40 miles north of Montgomery. The city has a population of 8,619 people as of 2019.
The city was founded in 1868 and named after General James H. Clanton, who served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Clanton is known for its rich history and culture, with many historic buildings still standing today. The downtown area features several antique stores and restaurants that offer a variety of local cuisine.
