Gutters and downspouts<\/strong> – Clean out (more frequently if necessary); inspect and repair weaknesses; check for proper drainage and repair if necessary.<\/p>\n

Chimney\/stovepipe<\/strong> – Clean flue (more frequently if needed); repair any cracks in flue or any loose or crumbling mortar; check gasket on woodstove, and replace if necessary.<\/p>\n

Siding<\/strong> – Inspect and clean siding. Repair if necessary; check joints between wood and masonry.<\/p>\n

Exterior caulking<\/strong> – Inspect caulking.<\/p>\n

Storm windows and doors<\/strong> – Replace any cracked or broken glass, tighten or repair any loose or damaged frames and repaint if necessary; replace broken, worn, or missing hardware; tighten and lubricate door hinges and closers; check for broken or missing glazing.<\/p>\n

Window and door weather-stripping<\/strong> – Inspect and repair, or replace if deteriorating or missing.<\/p>\n

Drain-waste and vent system<\/strong> – Flush out system.<\/p>\n

Hot-water heating system<\/strong> – Lubricate pump and motor; bleed air from radiators or convectors.<\/p>\n

Forced warm-air heating system<\/strong> – Vacuum heat exchanger surfaces; clean and lubricate blower blades and motor; check fan belt tension and adjust if necessary; replace cracked or worn belt, check for leaks and repair if necessary.<\/p>\n

Gas burner<\/strong> – Clean burners and ports.<\/p>\n

Oil burner<\/strong> – Have professionally serviced; lubricate fan and motor bearings.<\/p>\n

Thermostat<\/strong> – Clean heat sensor, contact points, and contacts; check accuracy and replace if necessary.<\/p>\n

Garage Doors<\/strong> – Clean and lubricate hinges, rollers, and tracks; tighten screws.<\/p>\n

Foundation<\/strong> – Check grading for proper slope away from foundation wall.<\/p>\n

Trees<\/strong> – Trim back all tree limbs and vegetation away from roof.<\/p>\n
