“Twilight” Home is Up For Sale

Posted December 28, 2009 by Matthew Denton

Movie success spawns curiosity over the house.

Description

Stephanie Meyer sure had a good story in mind when she wrote the Twilight series but she probably didn’t have any idea what house will be used by the Cullens. Surprisingly, it can be yours but at the cost of take this – $3.14 million.

The 5,117 sq. ft. house built in 1950 has five bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 half baths, a basement, a pool and a park-like view of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada according to the
property information posted by J. Soprovich of Prud. Sussex Realty. The post describes, “THE CULLEN HOUSE as seen in the recent World Wide Hit Saga Twilight: New Moon! Arthur Erickson’s finest & comp reno’d in ‘01, this award winning res is sit on a priv 1/2 acre creekside ppty nestled amongst a gorgeous greenbelt. Remodeled by BrianHemingway & transformed into a oneofakind masterpiece with the finest detail & quality!” (sic).

Some people think that the house’s staggering price was highly influenced by its association with the movie. Others think that it reflects its fair market value with consideration of the comps nearby. This could be paid by a good investor who knows that it’ll fetch a hefty price once the famed series becomes an instant classic. Better yet, he can transform it into a tourist attraction where fans can take a pilgrimage to the film’s shooting sites (think Lord of the Rings in New Zealand).

We think that it could rack up its value now that it has been publicized by the broker. This is something that always holds true in the market. Had it been just another ordinary 5BR in the same location, it wouldn’t be much of a talk among us except for the wealthy investors who believe that it’s worth more than $3.14 million.
