According to MortgageNewsDaily.com, “...The House of Representatives passed a bill yesterday [Monday, October 12th] aiming to extend the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit. Before you get to excited, it appears that it will only be extended for veterans of our armed forces for up to 6 months. To qualify, the veteran must have served overseas for 90 days in 2009.”
For everyone else, take advice from PBS’ Nightly Business Report: “...The clock is ticking for first-time homebuyers who want to take advantage of the government’s $8,000 tax credit. To get it, your mortgage must close by November 30. But since deals are taking months to finalize these days, making that deadline is dicey.”
