U.S. Space Rocket Center
Posted October 16, 2008 by Ima Local
The United States Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama is a highly recommended attraction for adults and children alike to explore. Claiming to be the world’s largest interactive space education classroom, this fabulous museum has a space shuttle park, rocket park and numerous simulators for those who want to encounter space first hand. The space travel simulators require a minimum height of 50 inches. Parents will appreciate the various extended programs for children, designed for specific age groups, that offer interactive education on manned space flight, space shuttle missions and space stations. The kids can feel the sensations of a real shuttle launch, too. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center also contains both an IMAX and 3D movie theater for all to enjoy. The movie Magnificent Desolation lets you experience all the aspects of walking on the moon’s surface just like the astronauts did. The information in the film was supplied by NASA footage and journals of the astronauts. Fly Me To the Moon (rated G) is an animated film in 3-D depicting three adventurous flies that have an awesome space adventure onboard the Apollo 11. Kids can learn about the Apollo 11’s great 1969 mission and its historical achievement. It is open all year round except on Thanksgiving Day and four days near Christmas and New Year’s. There are programs designed especially for visually impaired and deaf visitors.
