Turtle Bay Exploration Park
Posted October 16, 2008 by Ima Local
A great attraction in northern California is Turtle Bay Recreation Park in the city of Redding. This park is for the whole family to enjoy. There are awesome exhibitions that deal with the historical, cultural, and natural resources of the Sacramento River Region. The kids will enjoy underwater fish viewing, historic re-creations, viewing Chinese art, and experimenting with hands-on activities in science. Multimedia displays and self-guided exploration will delight both children and adults. Learn how adaptable geckos are and learn the facts and legends of the Old West and its famous firearms. You can also view the fantastic natural sculpture of environmental artist Patrick Dougherty and see how he used willow branches to create his art just for Turtle Bay. The park has a special children’s garden in McConnell Arboretum \u0026 Botanical Gardens. The kids will learn to appreciate the creatures of the forest and their natural habitats, and they can be educated on the history of logging at Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp. This re-creation of a traditional logging camp has an amphitheater and play area. The park is open all year round.
