The North End
Posted March 24, 2008 by Realty.com Editor
This a great neighborhood to visit, particularly if you like to walk. The sights, sounds and smells of the old Italian grocery stores, bakeries and restaurants spill out on the sidewalks of every meandering street.
Stop in one of the many cafés for an authentic Italian espresso and fresh baked cannoli. Be sure to visit the Old North Church, Paul Revere’s house and many other historical landmarks on the Freedom Trail, a self-guided walking tour, much of which will take you through the North End.
After you walked off your cannoli, step in to any number of small, charming restaurants (many seat as few as 30 patrons at a time) that offer a wide variety of freshly prepared dishes. There are lovely neighborhood parks where the kids can play. You may even be able to watch the old men play bocci ball in the cool shade of towering oaks.
For more history, visit one of several historic cemeteries in the North End. If you’re interested in woodworking, glass making or furniture making, the world-renowned North Bennett Street School is located in the heart of the North End.
