The Indianapolis 500 Speedway

The Indianapolis 500 in Speedway, Indiana, http://www.indy500.com .

The Indianapolis 500 is perhaps the most popular Indy-car event in the continental United States.  It attracts people from every walk of life, and every destination possible.  There are a wide variety of ways to enjoy the race; one can camp in an RV, get a local hotel, or stay with friends.  There are wonderful events leading up to the day of the race, such as Carburetion Day, which is a fun-filled festival full of music and food on the track.

It is a good idea to get tickets for the race as far in advance as possible, as they sell out quickly. However, there are generally scalpers willing to sell their tickets the day of the race. If you are unable to purchase a ticket, it’s best not to stay in the downtown area, and the race is “blacked-out” in a 50 mile radius around the track, and will not air on television until three hours later.
