The Coca-Cola Space Science Center
Posted October 20, 2008 by Ima Local
I highly recommend visiting the Coca-Cola Space Science Center in Columbus, Georgia. This establishment is geared toward educating adults and children in space sciences. There are many activities designed to teach about astronomy, space travel, rocket and shuttle launches, space missions and our universe. The Omnisphere is a 360 degree state-of-the-art planetarium featuring “Stars of the Pharaohs” how ancient Egypt used science to tell time, align structures, and make calendars. Other films such as “Microcosm”, “Secrets of the Sun”, and “Wonders of the Universe"are designed for specific age groups, categorized as 1st - 3rd grades or 4th - 12th grades. It also has colorful laser shows. There are numerous interactive exhibits and displays in this high quality facility. The Mead Observatory allows you to view the stars and planets through powerful telescopes. In the Challenger Learning Center large groups of visitors can experience a simulated space mission. It is open daily except Sunday, and reservations are needed for the special programs.
