Soldotna is a fishing mecca!
Posted July 15, 2008 by Town Genius
Soldotna in the summer is one of the greatest places to be especially if you love to fish. Soldotna is a small town on the Kenai Peninsula, which is about 150 miles south of Anchorage. The people are great because most of them are interested in the same thing, catching fish. From June through August, salmon run through the area. You can catch Kings, Sockeye and Silver salmon.
You will see people outdoors cooking their salmon or canning them. Canning is popular because you can store the salmon in jars, which is easier to transport home if you are in a vehicle. Even if you don’t like to fish, there are beautiful trips from here that you can drive to. You will see wildlife and mountains and such beauty, you won’t ever forget your trip to Alaska.
