Posted October 20, 2008 by Ima Local
Does your family love the outdoors? If so, then visit the Sandy Creek Nature Center in Athens, GA! It is fun for the whole family with exhibits that include snakes, both venomous and non; a beaver lodge, and even a real, living sea turtle! The nature center is located on a 225 acre nature preserve that homes all sorts of plants and ecosystems as well! You will see forests, fields, and wetlands in their natural goodness! You can also check out the ruins of an old brick factory and an 1800’s log house! Visit the Oconee River, and the Sandy Creek also! Depending on when you visit your children can create crafts and enjoy stories in a reading loft! Your family will also learn about living ‘green’ which is something we all need in this day and age! I hope you enjoy your trip!
