Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Posted March 24, 2008 by Realty.com Editor
The Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, this wonderful exhibit is right on Lake Erie, next to the Science Center, a submarine that is open for tours, and an ore freighter that can also be toured, called the SS Mathers. All kinds of people come from all over the world to see the exhibits at the Hall of Fame.
We have seen the Beatles exhibit, and several years ago the Elvis exhibit was here as well. Featured items include clothing from Madonna, guitars from world-famous guitarists, drum sets, sheet music, drum sticks, and just about anything else that you could imagine that pertains to the history of Rock-N-Roll music. This wonderful place features several restaurants within the building so that diners can eat and then go back to perusing items from their favorite bands. Gold and platinum LPs are displayed here.
Entire floors of the building are devoted to the current featured group or singer, and many examples of recording studioes, historical moments in the genre of rock, and too much more too describe are available. Adults and children alike, from all ages, teens to older folks, enjoy being here because the exhibits span the last 50 years. It’s interesting to watch the people, sometimes you see punk rockers or goths walking around, or young children holding their parents’ hands as they look at the displays of the long-hair bands or even reminisce about The Who.
Music is constantly playing in the background - rarely anything remotely controversial like Metallica - but often Eagles, Beatles, Bee-Gees, Bon Jovi, Elvis, and too many more bands, groups, or singers to mention. The best time to go is during the weekday when crowds are lighter and you can enjoy each exhibit to its fullest. I wouldn’t venture to suggest which week you should visit though, that depends entirely upon your own personal preference in music. I like to go when my favorite groups are featured.
You will find the building easily, it’s right off I-90 down on the lake. The exit is very clearly marked, and signs lead you right down to the pier. Plenty of parking is nearby. Right now, Madonna and Mellencamp are two of the featured exhibits. It’s open 363 days a year - closed only on Thanksgiving and Christmas, so come at your convenience. You won’t be disappointed! http://www.rockhall.com/visit/hours-admission
