Rancho San Rafael Regional Park
Posted October 22, 2008 by Ima Local
Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in northwest Reno is the city’s largest landscaped park. Here adults and children will find miles of walking and jogging trails, a large playground, and picnic and barbecue facilities. Depending on the time of year, the park is host to the Great Reno Balloon Race and Fourth of July fireworks, among other events. The western most section contains a huge dog park where canines of all shapes and sizes run and play. Entrance to the park is free. Other attractions include the Wilbur D. May Museum and Arboretum and the Great Basin Adventure Amusement Park. The latter is billed as a fun-filled family experience where children of all ages can pet animals, ride a pony, pan for gold, ride an old-fashioned log flume or “touch anything” in the Discovery Room. Open from Memorial Day weekend through the second weekend in September, there is a charge for this attraction.
