Pike’s Peak Cog Railway
Posted October 18, 2008 by Ima Local
The Pike’s Peak Cog Railway offers a round-trip 3 hour jaunt up and down Pike’s Peak. It truly is a great experience. The whole family can sit back and relax and enjoy the view from this great American mountain. On the trip you’ll see awesome scenery while listening to the Conductor give the history of the railway and mountain itself. The kids will love the mountain trek and seeing mule deer, bighorn sheep and yellow-bellied marmots along the way. At the top you can get a snack or a souvenir or simply take in the view. The Bottomless Pit on the northside of the mountain is not to be missed - but hang on to your children! Your summit stay will only last a little over half an hour to cut down on the chance of altitude sickness. Be sure and bring a sweatshirt or jacket as the temperature change is simply amazing. When we went it was in the nineties in Colorado Springs and snowing on the summit!
