OMSI

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry sits right on the waterfront across the river from Downtown Portland. It’s an amazing place for both children and adults, and as someone who has been going there since I was a kid, I can attest to both. There are a few permanent exhibits, dedicated to physical, life, and earth sciences, and there is usually one or more “travelling” exhibit. OMSI also has an IMAX theater, a planetarium, laser shows, a guided-submarine tour, and frequent special events. There is also a small store where you can buy educational toys and books and other things. Either way if you have kids and live in, or are visiting, Portland, you should make it a point to check out OMSI.
