Kidcity Children’s Museum

Posted October 22, 2008 by Ima Local

KidCity Children’s Museum in Middletown, Connecticut is a wonderful place for children to play and explore.  The website states that the museum is great for those from age one to age eight.  I disagree.  Pre-school age is the youngest I would bring an only child.  If you have a few children of different ages there is a room for toddlers.  There are so many wonderful rooms to explore.  There is Main Street which has a grocery store, diner, and kitchen complete with plastic food, play cash registers and a car to sit in.  There are also rooms designed as a Pirate Ship, a Video Theater where kids can dress up and act or sit behind a camera they can control, a Music Room where they can bang on wall xylophones or ride on a rain stick seesaw.  Beware on rainy days there can be a relatively long wait to get in so I would look to see if there are many people hanging around on the steps waiting to go in before taking the kids out of the car and waiting in the rain.  It is such a wonder to explore all the nooks in this amazing building through a child’s eyes.
