Gifford Pinchot State Park

If you want a variety of outdoor activities for the kids, bring them to Gifford Pinchot State Park located in York County, Pennsylvania. There are numerous marked trails that are well-maintained and categorized as easy, moderate, and difficult to walk on that the entire family can enjoy. The kids can fish during all seasons, including ice fishing in the winter months. Fish are in plenty supply at the 340-acre Pinchot Lake, and this is an awesome activity that parents can do with their kids. Other attractions are bird-watching (especially in the spring and fall), picnicking, canoeing, and cross-country skiing and ice skating in the winter. The children can have a great time at the large swimming beach open from May to September, but lifeguards may not be posted so be sure to stay with your kids there. Whether your family prefers cabins or tents, there are ample opportunities for camping in the campground areas. The park offers a variety of educational hands-on activities, guided walks, nature studies and campfire programs the children will love.
