Columbian Park Zoo
Posted October 20, 2008 by Ima Local
The Columbian Park Zoo is located in Lafayette, IN and is a great place for a day trip. The zoo has an array of exhibits ranging from typical farm animals to prairie dogs, all of which you and your children will love. The admission is free and the zoo is open all year long so it’s a great place to take the little ones for a day trip any time of the year. They will love the penguin exhibits, and the zoo actually offers a yearly charitable donation dinner in honor of these little guys. They will also enjoy the array of other special events the zoo has to offer in addition to their “special exhibits.” Two of the best exhibits are the butterfly sculpture garden and the Family Farm exhibit. The butterfly garden is a great place to just walk around and enjoy the plantlife and various visiting butterflies. It also offers up a few items your children can climb and explore on. The Family farm is by far my favorite for kids. They have the opportunity to groom horses and goats as well as play dress up as a farmer and milk a cow (a fake cow, but they can milk it!). This zoo is a great activity for learning about biology and agriculture for children while enjoying the fun you’d get from any other zoo.
