Cincinnati Zoo
Posted October 22, 2008 by Ima Local
I have been going to this zoo since I was three years old, 45 years ago. It is a really family-friendly place because it has animals, places to eat, fun things for kids to do (the train), and plenty of room to run around in. Over the years, the zoo has become more and more animal-friendly because the environments they are kept in have become more natural. So, it’s fun to see the animals because they look well-cared for. They have a nocturnal animal house that is dark inside and a great display of bats in there. It’s the good kind of scary-safe--you know the bats won’t get you because of the thick plexi-glass between you and them but it’s still exciting. Sometimes there are festivals and musical performances at the zoo--look on their website for more information. It’s a great place for kids because it is so full of interesting animals to see and at the same time, the kids are getting a good walk, which is good for them. The zoo is not in the best neighborhood. The Zoo parking lot itself is guarded and safe, but the general neighborhood has been steadily going downhill. Don’t let that cause you to miss a Cincinnati legend--use the internet to get a map and/or your gps. Follow the signs from the highway and you’ll get there.
