Central Park

New York is a world unto itself but one of the greatest treasures of this great city is Central Park. If you’re lucky enough to be staying close by (or even if you’re not) Central Park is the perfect place to escape to in the middle of this urban center.
Over 800 acres, Central Park has sweeping lawns, magnificent woods, and seven bodies of water to enjoy. Ideal for joggers, cyclists or people just out for a stroll, you’ll find a vast network of paths to explore, over fifty miles! Wander through the woodlands of 26,000 trees, enjoy the many statues and fountains, and experience people watching at its finest - you’ll be one of 25 million people who visit the park each year.
Built in 1853, there are also many wonderful attractions including a children’s zoo, a castle, a theatre, an outdoor concert facility and various cafes. Central Park is there for everyone and that’s just who you’ll find: families, couples, children and the elderly. In the summertime you’ll find the park especially lively as you can attend a wide range of concerts and theatre productions, or stop and enjoy the many impromptu performances by artists in the park.
Is Central Park safe? Absolutely! You are in a big city so general safety precautions should be practiced anywhere you go, but the park has its own police force and during daylight hours and early evening you should feel safe to explore the paths and popular areas.
More information on this amazing gem in the centre of Manhattan can be found at the web page: http://www.centralpark.com. If you’re looking for a little escape from the big city, or you’re looking for some fun, Central Park is the place to go.
