Blank Park Zoo

Posted October 20, 2008 by Ima Local

Blank Park Zoo is a great way to spend the day with your family.  While it is a smaller zoo, it has all your favorite animals and you can see them all in one day!  The have a very nice big indoor Discovery Center and my kids especially enjoyed the African Boardwalk.  Another neat and unusual exhibit was the Australian Trail where you can stroll among emus and wallabys.  They have one of the best petting zoos but be prepared to dish out the quarters!  Their Koi fish feeding area is simply amazing.  It is by far the largest number of these fish I have ever seen in one area and they almost jump onto the deck at your feet to get to the food!  All the exhibits are in easy walking distance but you can hop on the train for a break if you need one.  Concessions were good but pricey and you might be better off waiting to eat until after your visit.  If you want to spend some extra cash, and you plan your trip in advance, you can get a behind the scenes tour of the facilities and animals.  The Blank Park Zoo is open 10:00 - 5:00 May through September.
